Daniella Mazzio (she/her) is a Chicago-based writer, consultant, and performer. Though you may know her from her brief stint running Lydia Tár's Twitter account, Daniella has been featured in outlets such as the Chicago Reader and WBEZ discussing the past and current state of theatrical exhibition and has written for outlets including Slate and The Boston Globe. Daniella has been a guest on various film podcasts and is a produced playwright and commissioned scriptwriter.
As a performer, Daniella has performed stand-up and musical comedy at Second City, iO Theater, The Annoyance Theater, The Lincoln Lodge, The Crowd Theater, The Playground Theater, and Under the Gun Theater. She was featured as a performance artist as part of the Museum of Contemporary Art’s annual 21Minus exhibition in 2014 and was selected to perform at the First Annual Latina Comedy Festival. She formerly co-produced a variety show where she booked future comedic stars such as Meg Stalter and Asha Ward. She starred in the short film The Human Within, which screened at The Music Box Theatre as part of the 48-Hour Film Festival.
Throughout over a decade in her beloved city, Daniella has worked with creatives, leaders, and advocates from every different walk of life. Daniella is a dedicated advocate for disability justice, was a 2021 Disability Lead Fellow, is a member of the organization’s professional network, and serves on the Chicago International Film Festival’s Accessibility Advisory Committee. She has written about her personal experience with disability, including a piece about disability and Pride Month for Access Living.
She serves on the board of Plant Chicago, a nonprofit whose work centers on sustainability and circular economies. She previously worked at the Chicago Humanities Festival as the Audience Engagement Manager and served on the Urban Gateways Associate Board. She has experience planning events as intimate as 20-person house shows and as large as 4,000-person sold-out festival events. Her audience experience background focused on event accessibility and conducting outreach with underrepresented audience groups, including youth in Chicago and the disability community.
